Despite yet more treacherous rainfall during the preceding week and even during the day, all six scheduled matches were played to a conclusion with some outstanding team and individual performances.

The weather may well have played its part however will all six sides batting first losing.

An astonishing result was achieved at Kimberley’s Private Ground, which hosted a visit from the West Indian Cavaliers.

 Sam Ogrizovic won the toss and did not hesitate in ask stand-in skipper Bilal Shafayat to bat first and that proved to be a sound decision as the Cavs, unbeaten before today in the league, were skittled for just 63 in 26.2 overs.

Only three players reached double figures with the chief destroyer being opening bowler Matt Wright recording his best ever return in Premier League cricket with 7-28.

The Kimberley batting unit did not have it all their own way in reply, but they reached their target in one ball short of 17 overs with Jon Terry using his experience to see his side home with an unbeaten innings 30.

Wright’s figures may in normal circumstances have been the standout performance of the day but Welbeck skipper Martyn Dobson trumped them with some style as his side defeated Plumtree by 6 wickets at Sookholme. 

The visitors were invited to bat first in a match reduced to 42 overs due a late start caused by rain showers and they would have considered their total of 191 for 9 in their allocation to have been at the bottom end of the acceptable scale. 

Neil Edwards (45) and Sam Storey (52) put on 88 for the first wicket and Ben Milnes again looked impressive with a classy 54. 

But Dobson thoroughly enjoyed his spell of bowling, finishing with figures of 8-0-26-7 and ‘keeper Dave Hunt featured with three stumpings.

Despite a couple of brief rain interruptions, Welbeck were always on course to record their second win of the season with Dobson at the crease.

He was denied his first ton of the year when bowled by Nigel Finney on 97 but his team were only 21 runs short of their target when he fell.  Jonny Loates again featured with 33 in a good day for the home side.

Cuckney consolidated their lead at the top of the table with a six wicket win away at Mansfield Hosiery Mills.

The home side went to tea on 181 for 8 in an innings reduced to 49 overs with Gareth Curtis leading the scoring with 72 and Kieron Garside grabbing figures of 3-43 against his former team-mates. 

Cuckney secured the points inside 42 overs for the loss of 4 wickets with captain Will Butler hitting 65 and in-form Will Root ending unbeaten on 36.

The Nottinghamshire Academy kept up the pressure on leaders Cuckney with a 4 wicket win away at Wollaton.

The home side batted first and closed on 180 for 7 in their 50 overs with James Godrich scoring 53 and Dominic Reed 44, with George Bacon leading the county attack with figures of 4-17. 

The Academy reached their target with 4 overs to spare thanks to solid contributions from Tom Rowe (36) and Adam Tillcock (31 not out) supporting a key innings from Scott Elstone with 71 against his former club.

Caythorpe kept up their impressive recent run of form with a seven wicket win away at Worksop.

This game was to be played over the full 100 overs but didn’t last that long as the home side were dismissed for 123 despite overseas start Kelbert Walters (59) successful promotion to open the innings.

It was a day for the spinners with Jim Hindson (3-19) and Usman Muzaffar (4-39) leading the attack. 

Caythorpe lost only three wickets in their response with their experienced pair of Darren Bicknell (52) and Steve Allcoat (39) starring.

The final game saw Papplewick slip to a 5 wicket loss away at Clifton.

The visitors batted first and were routed for 109 inside 44 overs with no-one bettering skipper Matt Dowman’s innings of 21. 

Adam Shepherd has been in good form with the ball recently and this continued with figures of 5-28 from 12 overs. 

Clifton raced to their target in exactly 29 overs for the loss of 5 wickets with skipper Richard Harris top-scoring with 27 and Gareth Blinkhorn doing his best to stave off defeat with 3-30.

Next weekend sees a regular round of fixtures on Saturday with the T20 Finals Day taking place on Monday 9^th July at Trent Bridge.
