Clifton extended their lead at the head of the table to 33 points in a comprehensive thrashing of Welbeck Colliery that saw them drop out of the top three for the first time this season. Home side Welbeck chose to bat first but their plan backfired spectacularly when they were dismissed inside 39 overs for just 103, with Adam Shepherd doing most of the damage with 6-20 from 10 overs. The visitors took little time in overhauling their meagre target, knocking the runs off in exactly 16 overs for the loss of three wickets with Dan Birch smacking 52.
West Indian Cavaliers lost a bit of ground when they could only secure 16 points for a winning draw away at Papplewick. The visitors batted first on losing the toss and were bowled out for 194 in the final over; Mortaza Ali (75) and Usman Afzaal (58) stood firm against a pair of bowlers in fine form. Husnain Riaz recorded figures of 5-53 from his 15 overs and he was well supported by Jim Rhodes who took 3-32. Papplewick have struggled all season but got within 19 runs of a win against their arch rivals but had to settle for a draw. They finished on 176 for the loss of 8 wickets with Mark Nelson leading the charge with 65.
The Nottinghamshire Academy moved confidently into third with an excellent 7-wicket win away at Kimberley. The home side racked up 252 for 6 with Paldip Sidhu again in the runs, being run out agonisingly 1 run short of a maiden Premier League ton, with Jon Terry (46) and Akhil Patel (45) adding useful support. The county side managed to overcome their target on this high-scoring ground for the loss of just 3 wickets thanks to fine innings from Sam Kelsall (64), Sam Wood (38), Tom Rowe (60*) and Olly Swann (54*).
Wollaton secured their fourth win of the season away at Mansfield Hosiery Mills and are now just 10 points from securing their Premier League status; the visitors batted first and went to tea on 209 for 8 with runs for David Smith (40), Alex Reed-Brewer (34) and James Godrich (35). Sudesh Fernando snatched four wickets for 41 runs for the home side. If the Millers thought they would have an easy time with this relatively low target, they hadn’t counted on Alex King who starred with the days best figures, taking 7-29 from 15 overs to dismiss the home side for 117.
The bottom sides can still survive but both of them have a massive challenge on their hands; Kiveton’s task was not made any easier after a humbling 170 run loss away at Caythorpe. The home side took first dig and ended on 244 for 8 with runs for Steve Allcoat (77), James Oldham (50) and Josh Mierkalns (33). Paul Clark and Lee Brooks lead the Kiveton attack with figures of 4-59 and 3-41 respectively. Any confidence the visitors took from these bowling figures were soon dashed when they were skittled for just 74 with Ben Phillips taking 5-24 and Jim Hindson 3-23.
Fellow strugglers Belvoir fared a little better when they took 5 points from their loss at home to Cuckney; the Knipton side batted first and struggled to 178 for 8 with Gurpej Landa scoring 63 and James Needle chipping in with 57. Cuckney overcame this total but only just, losing eight wickets in the process; Tom Ullyott will have enjoyed his day as he returned figures of 5-30 in the Belvoir innings and followed this up with a match-winning 77 not out. Sam Cliff was the leading home bowler with 3-35.
