Horsham are the new leaders of the Sussex Premier League following their win at Chichester but Hastings and Preston Nomads are close behind and each has a game in hand as the title chase hots up, Nomads winning by seven wickets at home to Hastings.
Eastbourne eased their relegation worries with a win at home to Roffey with Chichester and Pulborough now the bottom two clubs.
Previous leaders Hastings lost for only the second time this season when Preston Nomads chased down the Hastings score of 242 for 9 declared to win by seven wickets.
For the visitors Sussex youngster Kirk Wernars hit 84, Tom Harvey made 45 and George Campbell 37 as Stephen Rigg took 4 for 67 for Nomads.
With Nomads at 14 for 2, Hastings were in high spirits but Jeremy Green with 78 and Joe Gatting, who finished with 106 not out, shared a third wicket stand of 133 to turn the game around.
Aaron Phillips made 42 not out and shared a 4th wicket stand of 96 with Gatting to take their side home at 243 for 3, Wernars grabbed 2 for 56.
Horsham moved above Hastings with a four wicket win at Chichester where the home side were dismissed for 158 as skipper Mark Bamford was top scorer with 52 while Luke Fisher took 3 for 36 for the visitors.
Owain Jones then hit 64 to help Horsham home at 160 for 6 as Richard Logan took 3 for 44.
Eastbourne enjoyed an important home win against Roffey who they beat by four wickets.
Roffey were dismissed for 145 after being put in as Stuart Pulford took 3 for 59, Ed Giddins 3 for 22 and Ollie Rayner 3 for 11, top scorer was Josh Fleming, he made 56.
Dan Wells, younger brother of Sussex batsman Luke, made 59 and Mark Tomsett 30 to take Eastbourne to victory at 146 for 6.
East Grinstead were held to a draw at home by Brighton and Hove after making 242 for 9 declared of which skipper Will Adkin hit 88 and Craig Fowle 62.
For Brighton Chris Hulston took 4 for 33 and Matt Wood 3 for 62.
In reply Brighton held on at 143 for 8 with 66 not out from Jack Bradley and 59 from Chris Grammer.
