Following the questions our captains answered earlier in the season we have revisited them to see how their seasons are progressing!
Enjoy!
/ How are you finding captaincy this season so far? Absolutely sickening. Big slog for no reward or appreciation from the boys!! (Hirsty I'm talking to you) Those who read my blog will be well aware of the frustrations!!
/ How are the team doing? Team are performing solidly in mid table. Have struggled with bowling consistency (Hirsty I'm talking to you), but batting has been good generally. Weather hasn't been all that kind to us either. We are also through to finals day of league t20 comp.
/ How if at all is captaincy affecting your personal on field performances? difficult to say due to injury. My left knee is pretty goosed but the club have engaged an attractive blond physio, regrettably treatment will take a long time... I've reinvented myself as a batter in the short term, been going ok. Batting easy etc!!
/ Is there a stand out game this season that made captaining the club so enjoyable? Beating Gateshead Fell (my old club) in t20 group to make finals day. We nearly cocked it up but two of our homegrown prospects and proteges at the crease, made me very proud
/ Have your season goals changed now we are part way through the season? not really, I figured we'd be mid table and the objective hasn't changed. Would like our bowlers to be more disciplined and bowl less 4 balls (Hirsty I'm talking to you)
/ How have you found the umpires in your league on the whole? The standard of umpiring in the league is generally excellent. Obviously not everyone agrees with all decisions but generally.umpires make less mistakes than our players (Hirsty I'm talking to you.)
/ Who has proved to be the most annoying team mate and why? Peter Hirst. Just lives to annoy me. Frustrating both as a player and human being. Watching him bat is an exercise in torture, he has no concept of responsibility. And he wears shit shirts.
/ Give us a rundown of activities during a normal home game, ie. wake up, breakfast, get to ground, do the ground jobs, warm up, toss up, play, bar, curry, nightclub etc! I wake up and head to the ground where I go through the checklist. The 1s.have a match manager to do this for them. I don't. Twats. Butter up the umpires and pay them. Win toss (I've only lost 1 all year). Lead troops like the ghost of Brearley. Traditionally, drink a good sup in bar and order Pizzas in, leave at closing for bright lights of Newcastle. Watch the lads play some average shots in Lynchs's or Tup Tup (James Carr in particular has been known to schnick off chasing a wide one). Subway. Bed.
