Congleton's incoming captain for the 2011 season gives us his first impressions of life as club captain.
1/ When did you become captain and why? - I am the incoming Captain this season. I was the U18's Captain at the club but had a 10 year break from Cricket, This is my 3rd season back and I'd always wanted to Captain my club as an adult.
2/ Is the role what you expected it to be? - It is a juggling act! As a point of contact through the committee and on to the field. Keeping players, Parents of young players happy. Also it is a task to try and take the club to the next level. I am really enjoying it so far though.
3/ What is the most enjoyable part of captaining your club? - I am lucky to have a very young squad and a lot of lads with good ability. I'm proud to be leading my lads to the season ahead.
4/ What was your most memorable win at the club either as captain or
before you took over? - A last ball game against Sale cc last season, I personally scored 64 at a crucial time and we won the game on a last ball run out. That or, In a junior game many years ago scoring 111 and taking 8-38 in the same game.
5/ What is your main goal as captain? - To take the club to the next level. Not just promotion but youth development, additional coaching. I want to leave the club in a better position than it was when I took over, I think that should be any Captains aim. And to have a right laugh!!! Whilst winning of course.
6/ How do you find the format of cricket that you play in your league? - I like it, I would however prefer a win/lose result, I think it would add to the excitement of the sport and make us more interesting.
7/ Who is the team badger and why? - I don't know what this means!?!?!
8/ What plans are in place as a club to ensure that the success of
your side is sustainable? - To continue to let Juniors thrive. We have the youngest team in the League with myself the oldest player at 33! (Which is annoying!) If the club is full of young guys who have a real

To continue to let Juniors thrive. We have the youngest team in the League with myself the oldest player at 33! (Which is annoying!) If the club is full of young guys who have a real passion for the came of cricket, It makes the club and the sport more attractive to the community.
Many thanks Phillip, the LCA wish you and the club all the best for this coming season and the future.
