Jim Rhodes grabs a return of 3-4
The quality of cricket played in the Nottinghamshire Premier League was demonstrated again last Sunday when the League’s representative XI progressed to the semi-finals of the League Cricket Conference’s President’s Trophy. After beating the Bassetlaw League in the first round, they took on the representative side from the Yorkshire & Derbyshire League at Cuckney’s Langwith Lane ground.
In a reduced overs game caused by torrential morning rain, the Nottinghamshire side dismissed the visitors for 108 with Papplewick’s Jim Rhodes grabbing the astonishing return of 3 wickets for just 4 runs. This modest target was reached in just 19 overs for the loss of only 3 wickets with Adam Burgess top-scoring with 50 exactly.
This win means the Nottinghamshire League side are through to the semi-finals of the competition that will take place as a home tie on Sunday 14th August.
