Wakestock more important than cricket?
Another excellent days weather after some nervous moments with heavy rain showers on Friday threatening some games.
For a number of reasons Clubs were forced to field weakened teams due to player shortages; the increasingly popular annual Wakestock festival at Abersoch coupled with the fine weather proving a greater attraction for some of the younger members.
The promised Premier Division 'match of the day' looked to be a damp squib after Pontblyddyn were shot out for just 96 runs in only 21.4 overs. Llandudno with the luxury of 88 overs to overtake this disappointing total fared no better and a fascinating struggle ended after 45.5 overs by them being bowled all out for just 85 runs. Pontblyddyn maintain their record of being a hoodoo club for the Champions and a double this season is a significant achievement. At the other end of the Division Pwllheli at last break their duck to secure their first win in Premier League cricket with a decisive home win but over a depleted 9 man Mold team who had faced the prospect of two withdrawals on the morning of the game. Heavy localised downpours at Brymbo postponed the start of the game until after the tea interval at 1630hrs. Brymbo making 133 for 0 wickets from their 30 overs was insufficient as Connah's Quay with some overs in hand made it to 135 for 2 to put them on top of the Division but with some results still to come in. Mochdre clearly buoyed by their excellent performance when beating leaders Menai Bridge again perform well on their travels to dent Bangor's ambitions which were rekindled last weekend. A comfortable 59 run victory nets them 28 points to the 4 that Bangor claimed. Menai Bridge fail to win again securing a winning draw at struggling Hawarden Park. Joint leaders last week along with Llandudno they now slip down to 3rd place and Llandudno into 4th.
