I became a captain because I enjoy having the extra responsibility and control on the game, as well as being to influence a club from 1st XI down to juniors.
2/ Is the role what you expected it to be?
Yes, I made sure I got a copy of my roles and the expectation of the job before I excepted it. I also had to ensure that the ideas I had for change fitted into the clubs development plan.
3/ What is the most enjoyable part of captaining your club?
Writing my blog on a Saturday night and seeing a wicket taken after making a decision.
4/ What was your most memorable win at the club either as captain or before you took over?
Last Season we chased 297 at home against Neston. There fans went home when we were 80/2 off 22 overs said we were negative playing for a draw......... we won with an over to spare.
5/ What is your main goal as captain?
To make the club more inclusive to all, and to finish in the top 6 with a good cup run.
6/ How do you find the format of cricket that you play in your league?
A little frustrating, we don't draw many games as we play to win 99% of the time, wish there was a ring with a minimum amount of fielders.
7/ Who is the team badger and why?
Graham Cashin he is up with everything going on in the changing room and around the league, every team needs one.
8/ What plans are in place as a club to ensure that the success of your side is sustainable?
I have improved training and increased the amount of supervised training as the club captain/ coach. Also to bring the team together on an off the field.
Keep up to date with how Lee and Oxton CC are getting on every week on Oxton CC
