With the anniversary of our first course rapidly approaching, I wanted to look back on our first year and see how far we had come. How exciting is 2011 going to be for LCA Cricket Coaching?
Over a year ago Browny and I were approached by our old school with the view of holding a couple of master class style cricket sessions in the area. Having both been coaching for some time we both jumped at the chance to work together having enjoyed 2 years playing in the same team at Northants.
That course ran smoothly and our coaching styles really complimented each other and the lads seemed to thrive in the environment we created.
Having enjoyed the weekend in Wolverhampton so much we decided we would hold another set of master classes at a couple more venues in the country. We travelled to Notts High school, where another ex Northants player is now teaching, Scott Boswell, and held a bowling master class there for some of the best young bowlers at the school. A 2 day stint in Shrewsbury the week after delivering another 2 master classes confirmed that this was more than just a bit of fun.
Following Richard’s graduation from Leeds Met University, he moved down to Southampton to work full time for LCA Cricket Coaching.
Since that first master class in December last year, LCA Cricket Coaching have held over 15 courses through the south of England and have coached over 300 hundred aspiring cricketers in the area. We have had such a great time working with some of the best young players around, as well as some children just getting to grips with the great game!
Having given the children in the area chance to work with some of the country’s finest players such as Simon Jones, Michael Lumb and Nic Pothas, we hope to be able to offer more unique courses like these throughout 2011 and beyond.
With the addition of current Hampshire star David Balcombe to the LCA Cricket Coaching team, the future is looking bright. We have over 30 courses organised for next year and with that in mind we hope we can continue to help some of the south’s brightest young talents' realise their dreams, whether it be to follow in the footsteps of David or some of our other guest coaches, or to get in their club side for the first time ever.
