The Simon Jones Fast Bowling Clinic was a huge success. 21 children attended the event with many parents staying to watch and listen to the star during the 3 hour session. Simon 'Jonah' Jones, contributed in all areas of the master class starting from a bowling specific warm up and ending with his advice on variation deliveries. The bulk of the session was taken up by internationally proven bowling drills that Simon had learned and experienced when working with fast bowling guru, Troy Cooley during his time with the English national side. Each child attempted these testing drills and many of them thrived under the watchful eye of their hero. Video analysis also took place in small groups during the clinic where each child got to see themselves bowling on a large screen mounted in a room just off the sports hall. This analysis was then transferred into areas of the action that each child might be able to work on to help improve on their current action. Feedback from the course has been extremely positive with all the children knowing what it is that they must try to improve in the lead up to the season and also a realisation that fast bowling is an art. Simon's advice was invaluable to many of the children and I am sure this will stick with them for the rest of their careers. Thanks also goes to fellow coaches,David Balcombe and Richard Logan who were instrumental in the running of the course and a special congratulations to Sam Corbett who was drawn 'out of the hat' by Simon to receive 2 x Test Match Tickets for the England vs Sri Lanka Test at the Rose Bowl next summer. All other attendees received a ticket for a pro40 game of their choice next summer to hopefully see Jonah in action for the Royals.
Fantastic start to the series of master classes at King Edwards School.
