Bessborough Cricket Club
If you’re looking to join a London based club in 2013 or get back into the game after a period away, Bessborough Cricket Club could be the place for you.
Based in the North West London of Harrow at their picturesque Headstone Manor ground, Bessborough have been serving the local community for the last 104 years and the club are looking forward to a long future in local cricket.
The club currently has four sides on Saturday’s that all compete in various Middlesex Leagues, alongside one Sunday side which plays a mixture of Friendly and league cricket.
James Wheeler, who joined the club as an 8-year old feels the club are looking for players of all abilities and backgrounds: “We are a fun loving club that always encourages the recruitment of new players and we have a range of sides of all abilities.”
If weekends are a struggle, Bessborough formed their own Twenty20 side last season that play friendlies throughout the summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays against local clubs and companies.
Off the field, the club has a vibrant social season with the bar open every Tuesday evening during the winter and every day during the summer.
Also various social events such as quizzes, discos and themed evenings during the season mean Bessborough has a lot to offer off the field as well.
Wheeler also feels the all the teams at the club could do with a bit more competition: “Whether you’re a seasoned first team player who has drifted away from the game in recent seasons or whether you just want to play some social cricket, Bessborough is the club for you.”
Junior players are also welcome to join our award winning Colts system which has won numerous National and Regional honours in the last 20 years.
Former England batsman Mark Ramprakash came through the junior ranks at Bessborough before joining Middlesex.
