An incredible end to the North East Premier League saw South Northumberland.CC snatch the title from favourites Blaydon.CC on the last day of the season.
South Northumberland secured their eighth title in ten years after Blaydon lost by six wickets to Tynemouth.CC to throw away an 18-point lead they had going into the match.
The reigning champions comfortably defeated Stockton.CC by 7-wickets to take advantage of Blaydon’s slip up and take the crown.
John Graham has been key with the bat for South Northumberland this season with over 400 runs in the league whilst Stephen Humble took 37 wickets for the team at an average of 11.
Stockton batsman Richard Waite achieved the impressive feat of being the only batsman in the league to pass 500 runs over the course of the season to finish top of the runs-scoring table.
Matthew Muchall finished top of the bowling equivalent with 55 wickets throughout the season with an average of 11.
Sunderland.CC 2nd team lost just one match on their way to the Division 2 title, finishing 54 points ahead of 2nd place Chester-Le-Street.CC 2nd team.
The third division title also went to Sunderland with 7 victories throughout the course of the season.
