Dominic Spencer & Dan Stay
Coleshill.CC opening batsmen Dominic Spencer and Dan Stay have set what is believed to be a new club record last Saturday.
The pair put on a quite astonishing 301 for the first wicket in the clubs 1st team match away against Amersham Hill.CC in the Third Division of the Morrant Chilterns League.
It’s not confirmed, but it is thought to be the highest opening partnership ever in the history of the club.
What is probably just as impressive is the openers hit the score in just 32 overs, to post 301 for 0 batting first.
Spencer finished on 158 not out, whilst Stay smashed his way to 112 unbeaten to set the imposing total.
The partnership enabled Coleshill captain Simon Pottinger to declare early and give Amersham Hill an almighty run chase, but the home side got off to the worst possible start.
Coleshill opened up with spinners, and Barney Stay picked up a wicket with the second ball of the innings.
Stay and Chris MacDuff claimed two wickets apiece before Mike Scott took a wrecking ball to the Amersham middle order on his way to 4-18.
Rob Amar took the final two wickets for just three runs and Coleshill wrapped up a 162-run victory.
Coleshill are currently flying high at the top of the league, and face a tough away trip against White Waltham.CC 2nd team in their next fixture.
