Colton Cricket Club Under 17's - League & Cup winners
Colton Cricket Club Under 17’s won two matches in four days this week to complete the league and cup double.
It’s been a remarkable season for the team, who have remained unbeaten the whole year finishing with 12 victories out of 12.
What is probably just as surprising is that the side’s campaign hasn’t been hugely affected by the rain, something that many teams have endured, with only two matches cancelled all season.
Colton Under 17’s confirmed the Under 17’s Wetherby Cricket league title on Monday (9th July), with a comfortable 9-wicket victory over mid-table Shadwell Under 17’s.
Colton’s cup final success the next Thursday (12th July) was largely thanks to opening batsmen Brad Firn & Dan Wilbor.
The pair both reached their 50 to retire to help post an imposing 149-1 batting first against arch rivals Whitkirk Under 17’s.
Whitkirks reply never really got going, and the side stumbled to 81-9 off their allocated overs to hand the cup to Colton.
Harry Coates lifted the Nicholas Priestley Trophy for Colton to complete a fantastic campaign for his side.
And with all of the squad eligible for the Under 17’s team next season, Colton are surely going to be the team to beat next year.
