The successful event in 2010
Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club are hosting a dinner in aid of the Courtney Walsh Foundation on the 18thJune.
West Indian cricketing legend and TV pundit Michael Holding will join Courtney Walsh at the event to take part in a question and answer session for the lucky guests which will be chaired by Daily Mail cricket correspondent Paul Newman.
This is the second time Wanstead and Snaresbrook have hosted the dinner after a successful event in 2010.
The evening’s guest speaker is yet to be confirmed, but the club are confident of securing an entertaining personality for the event.
The Courtney Walsh Foundation aims to use cricket as a means of positive change in Jamaica.
The registered charity works in three main areas:
Street20 Cricket - a fast moving, affordable and sustainable version of the game to be introduced to an initial 12 inner city communities.
Disability Cricket - "enabling the disabled" will involve the development of cricket programmes for three categories of disability. Visually impaired (blind), physically disabled (wheel chair) and learning disabled.
Young Offenders Project - using cricket in one of the juvenile correctional institutions to engage young offenders and support their transition from custody to community
Long-term projects for the foundation are the establishment of a Cricket Centre to work with the Foundation's programmes in Jamaica and the construction of practice facilities in each adopted community.
Being held at the club, the evening dinner starts at 7 pm and guests will sit down to dine at 7.30 pm.
