An England Women’s invitational XI will take on the Royal Air Force (RAF) Cricket Association XI in a charity game later this week.
East Lindsey District Council has invited the reigning world champion cricketers to play against the RAF in Louth on 16th August in a twenty20 game for Breast Cancer Care and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The RAF Team have also just become the Armed Forces twenty20 cricket champions for the second year running, beating the Navy and Army in a triangular tournament at Lord’s.
The Breast Cancer Care charity aims to support and provide information to people affected by breast cancer whilst campaigning for an improvement in standards of support and care.
The RAF Benevolent fund provides a spectrum of care supporting everyone from children growing up on RAF stations, to those serving today to the veterans who fought for our freedom.
Tickets to the fundraiser at the London Road Sports Ground are free but donations of £5, with proceeds being split equally between the two charities, are more than welcome.
England Women’s cricketer & event organiser Arran Brindle believes the event will be hugely popular with the local public: “It’s great that East Lindsey have decided to host a game like this in their summer programme of events. It will be great for the local people to see England.”
People wanting to request a tickets for the game, which begins at 1.30pm should phone 01507 613412 or 01507 613413.
Brindle is eagerly anticipating the event: “To have England Women's X1 and the current inter services champions the RAF in Louth in aid of 2 great charities should make for a great day”
Following the match, there will be a charity BBQ at Kenwick Park Hotel starting at 7pm. Tickets cost £25 each, with a share going to the charities. For tickets to the BBQ, please contact Best Western Kenwick Park, Louth, Lincolnshire, LN11 8NR or call 01507 608806.
