Flitwick.CC’s Sunday 1st team are all set for a title deciding match this weekend as the side face Bedfordshire County Premier Division leaders Dunstable.CC.
The Otters sit just 10 points of Dunstable after securing a low-scoring 79-run victory over Southill Park.CC on Sunday to move into second place.
Three wickets each from Mehul Adatia and Dan Course helped Dunstable restrict the visitors to a modest 169 for 8 off their 45 overs.
45 from Jake Higgingbotham and 37 from Steven Davis top-scored for Flitwick in what looked to be bowler friendly conditions.
31 from Dunstable opener Hayden Morton was the only real mainstay for the home side as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Only three Dunstable batsman reached double figures as they collapsed to 90 all-out largely thanks to 3-11 from Matthew Hicks and 3-12 from Chamara De Zoysa.
The 30 points helped Flitwick leapfrog Luton Town & Indians.CC, who didn’t play at the weekend because it was their free week.
With two matches to play, it looks set to be a three-horse race between Dunstable, Flitwick and Luton Town & Indians for the title.
Flitwick v Dunstable this Sunday (26th August) will be seen as the title decider between the two sides but Luton Town will be quietly confident of making a late challenge with the club just two points off Flitwick and with away ties against Ampthill Town.CC and Leighton Buzzard Town.CC to go.
