Flitwick.CC Sunday 1st team are on the brink of the Bedfordshire Premier Division title after a comfortable 85-run victory over Dunstable.CC.
Flitwick were just 10 points off the league leaders Dunstable before the match, but the victory over their rivals has leapfrogged the side into an 11-point lead with one fixture remaining.
An unbeaten 84 from Chamara De Zoysa and 32 from Jake Higgingbottom helped Flitwick post 188 for 9 off their 45 overs.
Zoysa has been in impressive form for Flitwick this season, and the batsman is currently top of the individual runs-scoring table in the league.
Saanwal Ilyas, Sam Marshall & Bradley Matthews all took two wickets for the home side.
But Dunstable lost wickets at regular intervals in their run-chase as the hosts stumbled to just 103 all-out inside 30 overs.
Only two Dunstable batsmen reached double figures with Kalim Khan and Jason Twist the pick of the Flitwick bowlers with figures of 4-39 and 3-31 respectively.
Opener Higgingbottom also finished with very credible figures of 2-7 off 7 overs.
Luton Town & Indians.CC hopes of making a late surge for the title are over after they fell to a 33-run defeat at Ampthill Town.CC.
Ampthill posted an imposing 246 for 6 batting first only for Luton Town to reach 213 for 9 to end any hopes the 3rd place side had of causing a title upset.
Flitwick will be hoping to confirm the league victory when they face an away trip to bottom side Ickwell.CC this Sunday (2nd September).
Dunstable also face an away trip on the same day, but to 7th place Southill Park.CC.
