Five members of Great Totham Cricket Club are undertaking the mammoth challenge of cycling 300 miles in just 3 days around Essex cricket clubs in order to raise as much money as possible for much needed improvements to the facilities at the ground.
Kevin Mays, Howard Hardy-King, Barry Mays, Charlie Powell & Drew Whiting will cycle to all 57 cricket grounds in the T-Rippon Mid Essex Cricket League across the three days of the Easter weekend.
With an ever-expanding colts section the club are looking to buy new practice nets and coaching equipment to give the youngsters the highest quality facilities.
More importantly there are a number of serious repairs needed after a burst water tank caused the club’s pavilion to flood during last season.
The club are aiming to raise a huge sum of £10,000 of which they will share half with St Helena’s Hospice, who give care and support to people with a life limiting illness in North East and Mid Essex.
The club will be releasing constant updates and pictures of the group’s progress on their Twitter account (@GreatTothamCC), as well as posting information and photos about their training in the run up to the event.
If anybody would like to help out both the club and St Helena’s Hospice by giving a donation then visit http://www.justgiving.com/gttothamcccycle.
On behalf of the LCA we wish all involved the best of luck and we look forward to hearing about your successful challenge.
