Hampshire - 2012 T20 Winners

Hampshire have won this year’s domestic T20 Title after a thrilling 10-run victory over Yorkshire at Finals Day in Cardiff.

It is the second time the Southern county have won the title having previously won the crown in 2010.

Under the lights at the Swalec Stadium, Hampshire batted first and reached 150 for 6.

43 from Jimmy Adams, and 36 from James Vince led the side to the tricky total, with Ryan Sidebottom the pick of the Yorkshire bowlers with 2-20.

Hampshire stayed on top of the game with a flurry of early wickets to leave Yorkshire 47-4 in their run-chase.

But a spell of huge hitting to all parts of the ground from South African David Miller gave Yorkshire a chance of snatching an unlikely victory.

Miller finished unbeaten on 72 from just 46 balls, but Yorkshire’s first T20 Final ended in defeat as they fell just short of the target.

Chris Wood was the pick of the Hampshire bowlers taking three wickets, two of which came in the last over of the match.

 Both teams’ victory in their respective semi-finals means both sides have reached the qualifying stages of the T20 Champions League.

Yorkshire booked their place in the final with an impressive 36-run victory over the favoured side, Sussex, in the first semi-final of the day.

Jonny Bairstow continued his fine batting form as he smashed 68 from 45 to help Yorkshire to 172 for 6 batting first.

Depsite an impressive unbeaten 80 from Chris Nash, the opener quickly ran out of partners at the other end and Sussex petered to 136 for 8.

Tim Bresnan and Richard Pyrah both took two wickets for Yorkshire.

Hampshire booked their place in the final with a comfortable 6-wicket victory over Somerset.

Only Craig Kieswetter gathered any momentum in Somerset’s innings as they could only post 125 for 6 in their innings.

The keeper hit 63 from 58, as Dimitri Mascarenhas and Sean Ervine both took two wickets for Hampshire.

Simon Katch hit 32 not out, and Ervine 34 not out as Hampshire reached the target with one over to spare to reach the final.
