Oulton Park Cricket Club
Oulton Park.CC narrowly defeated Irby.CC to secure their second league victory on the bounce and continue their late surge for promotion.
Without captain Danny Leech for the second week, Oulton Park won the toss and bowled first on a slow but very flat batting wicket.
The Irby openers Hughes (17) and Shillinglaw (59) got off to a solidstart, Berrington trapped Hughes LBW. Shillinglaw was bowled by Craig Williamson just before drinks.
Irby overseas Josh Mallichan (74 not out) was the stand out performer as the other Irby batsmen, with the exception of Hurworth (21) struggled to add any significant runs.
Emmett toiled away bowling 25 overs and finished with 5-85, his second 5 wicket hall in as many weeks, as Irby finished 224-7.
In reply, Park suffered the loss of Nick James (0) in the opening over.
Moore (127 not out) was again the stand out performer as the league’s leading run scorer was the back bone of the Oulton chase.
Moore was supported by a classy Tomlinson 58, who was unfortunate to be caught and bowled by Jamie Hurworth.
With only a handful of runs required, Oulton lost 5 wickets, with the batsmen contributing only 25 runs between them.
Fittingly Moore hit the winning runs as Oulton won by 3 wickets.
The win strengthened third place, and with second placed Grappenhall losing their third consecutive game the gap between the two sides is now 44 points with five games remaining.
