West Chiltington & Thakeham - 2011 League Winners
It has been an extremely successful season for West Chiltington & Thakeham.CC with the clubs 1st team achieving back to back promotion.
The 1st team won Division Two of the West Sussex Invitation Cricket League with 10 wins to reach the top tier of the league.
Now playing at their highest ever level, the club are now just one league away from playing their cricket in the Sussex Cricket League.
The team’s success was largely down to batsman Mick Armstrong who hit over 500 runs in 9 league matches and seamer James Chaloner who took 38 wickets at an average of 11.
Promotion was the word for the clubs 2nd team as well as the side finished runners-up of Division Six by just one point.
The Club's 3rd team narrowly missed out on promotion though finishing fourth in Division 10 of the league.
The success has been partly down to the enhancement of facilities at the club with covers, sight screens and nets all improved in recent years.
The club also boasts a strong colts section with more than 100 colts practicing this season and competing in leagues.
As we had previously reported, the club have joined together with West Chiltington Football Club to forge plans of a new pavilion at the Recreation Ground which has been their home of cricket for 91 years.
