Redcar Cricket Club secured promotion back into the North Yorkshire & South Durham Premier Division with a last day victory over Whitby.CC.
The 2012 season can definitely be considered successful now after the 3-wicket win which saw Redcar finish the league in 2nd behind Saltburn.CC.
Opening batsman Ollie Rodgers had an outstanding season for the club hitting over 1,000 runs in all competitions including 845 in the league.
Fellow Opener Tom Urwin hit 724 league runs and the pair’s average opening partnership was an impressive 69.
Tyler Easton made 401 league runs averaging 40 and took 21 victims in another excellent season behind the stumps.
Left-arm spinner Callum Brown was the leading wicket taker for the 3rd time in 4 years with 42 wickets.
Other top bowlers were Mike Rix who took 32 wickets, veteran Mick McCabe with 25 wickets and off-spinner Ben Hutchinson taking 24 wickets.
The Redcar 2nd team had a solid season finishing in mid-table of Division 2.
Skipper Ben Hodgson capped a fine season with 300 runs and 19 wickets alongside other star performers like Steve Lee with a century.
Rob Munro and Davey Corps were key with the ball this season taking 16 and 15 wickets respectively.
Redcar 3rd team had a largely successful year and finished in 2nd place, just 28 points off champions Darlington.CC
Star performers for the side were Rob Munro with 344 runs and 29 wickets closely followed by Craig Potter with 218 runs and 23 wickets.
Jonathon Cooper also smashed 295 runs and Andy Wetherell marked his comeback at the end of the season with 188 runs averaging 62 in his 4 innings.
