Glen Querl
North Devon.CC all-rounder Glenn Querl finished with figures of 8-16 at the weekend in the Devon Premier League to become the LCA Bowler of the Week.
With winning the award the Zimbabwean has become the first player to win both bowler, and batsman of the week awards this season.
Querl hit 136 not out to win the LCA Batsman of the Week award earlier in the season against Bradninch.CC
The 24-year old must enjoy playing against the Exeter club with this week’s outstanding bowling performance coming against the same side.
5 of Querl’s dismissals came as bowled as the all-rounder tore through the visitors batting line-up to leave Bradninch 157 all-out batting first.
Considering Bradninch were at one point in dire trouble at 9-4, a score of over 150 wasn’t too bad in the circumstances.
Keeper Paul Tweddle (61) and Gary Chappell (46) put on a vital partnership of 110 to at least leave North Devon something to chase after tea.
The home side certainly made hard work of the run-chase, with Bradninch just one wicket away from victory when North Devon reached the target.
3 wickets each from Chappell and Matthew Golding was not enough for the visitors to secure an unlikely victory.
It was Querl who starred again for North Devon hitting a vital 63 to see the home side past the line.
The 24-year old has also been a mainstay in the ECB Unicorns side since it formed in the 40-over county cricket competition and has made regular appearances for the team this season.
North Devon continue their league campaign with an away trip to bottom side Sandford.CC this Saturday (18th August).
