A Sixteen year old bowler has broken a Sale Cricket Club record with his performance at the weekend.
Johnathan Dickens achieved a very rare feat on Saturday, taking 5 wickets in 5 balls against local rivals Timperley.CC 3rd team in the Cheshire County League 3rd XI Division 2.
Playing for Sale 3rd team, he bowled all 5 victims and finished with incredible figures of 2 overs, 1 maiden, 6 wickets for 4 runs.
It capped a day in which the Sale side dominated.
In a total of 223-0 declared, both Mark Almond and Cheshire Under 14’s Harry Stepney scored unbeaten centuries batting first.
Dickens then dispatched Timperley in short order, as they were bowled out for 71.
His amazing feat created a new record for Sale, beating Garry Saunders’ record of 4 wickets in 4 balls in the 1990’s.
The Salians were just glad to get a game of cricket, having had 9 out of the previous 13 games cancelled due to the poor weather this season.
Sale will be hoping for a similar performance when they face 2nd place Urmston.CC 3rd team this Saturday (4th August).
