Alvaston & Boulton.CC spinner Chris Stevenson finished with impressive figures of 7-16 at the weekend to become the LCA Bowler of the Week.
Stevenson took the wickets in the club’s 63-run victory over Ockbrook & Borrowash.CC in the Derbyshire Premier League.
Chris Mcllory had earlier hit 62 alongside Hassan Adnan who scored 45 to help Alvaston post 225 for 9 off their 50 overs.
Lian Wharton was the pick of the Ockbrook bowlers ending the innings with figures of 6-55 off his 15 overs.
Chasing a par-score target, Ockbrook looked fairly in control of the contest at 103-3 before Stevenson ripped through the home side’s middle order in impressive fashion.
Despite the best efforts of opener Jonathon Guthrie, who eventually finished on 79, to stop the onslaught, there was no stopping the spinner.
Six maidens came from Stevenson’s 14 overs that saw the last seven wickets fall for just 45 runs as Ockbrook eventually finished on 162 all-out.
Stevenson, who has been an ever-present member of the Alvaston 1st team for a number of years has only previously got a 7-wicket haul once before for the club which was over six seasons ago.
The result helps Alvaston leapfrog Ockbrook into 4th place in the league.
Alvaston continue their league campaign as they host relegation threatened Denby.CC this Saturday (4th August).
