Mayfield Cricket Club, from East Sussex, are a team on the up after an unbelievable twelve months.
The club, which lies ten miles south of Tunbridge Wells, won all of their respective divisions in the East Sussex Cricket League last season.
Their 1st team, led by former Derbyshire and Kent player Rajesh Sharma, were crowned champions of Division 4 at the first time of asking.
The side won 11 matches on the way to the crown, and secured their second consecutive promotion as winners of their league.
There were also huge successes for both of the other senior sides at the club.
The 2nd team were crowned champions of Division 10 under the supervision of Neil McDonald, and Andrew Watson captained the 3rd team to the Division 13 title in their first ever campaign.
It hasn’t been all smooth running for the club though.
Back in September 2010 a fire at the ground completely destroyed the pavilion and tearoom.
The facilities were targeted twice by arsenes in the space of two weeks.
But, after the initial despair, the club rallied together and through some hard work and serious fundraising a completely new structure was built in time to host the new season.
Mayfield C.C. 1st team kick off their 2012 Division 3 campaign against Lewes St Michaels 1st on 5th May.
