Thurrock CC remained at the top of the Mid Essex Division 2 thanks to a comprehensive 7 wicket win over Canvey that maintained their unbeaten run.
Thurrock skipper Mark O’Neill won the toss and chose to field and the away sides opening bowlers Andrew Hills and Madder put the Canvey top order under intense pressure with just 12 runs coming off the first ten overs.
They were backed up ably by the change bowlers Rob Neal, Matt Hills and Umar Ayub as a disciplined performance from the Thurrock side meant that the Canvey batsmen never got going.
Canvey were indebted to Lee making 56 as they posted just 164 for 8 from their 45 overs.
After a small collapse at the beginning of the Thurrock innings, an excellent unbeaten century partnership between opening batsman Umar Ayub (72 not out) and Rob Baker (42 not out) saw the league leaders home with no further alarms to extend there unbeaten run this season and remain in promotion contention.
Thurrock 2’s got themselves back in contention for promotion from Mid Essex Division 6 with a comfortable win over visitors Bluehouse.
Thurrock batted first and posted 237/6 from their 45 overs with the main contributors being Clarke Wren (69) and Jordan Owen (62) being ably backed up by Kevin Birch (32) and Manwinder Singh (30).
In return the Bluehouse batsmen were never allowed to get going thanks to some tight bowling from Tom Hills (2-23 off 10) and home skipper Gelder (1-10 off 8).
Wren then followed up his batting heroics with by taking 4-42 off 12 overs to ensure a comfortable victory for the home side to put themselves back in the promotion picture.
Thurrock 3rd XI blitzed Hullbridge 2nd’s by 10 wickets by blowing away the home side for 41 with the star of the show being Terry Hills with 4 wickets.
Thurrock’s batsmen were never duly troubled in knocking the runs off with Danny Groves (23no) and young Bilal Qureshi (17no) seeing the side home and maintaining their unbeaten run this season in Mid Essex Division 11.
Thurrock 4th XI also won on Saturday to ensure a clean sweep for the Thurrock club after a comprehensive win over visitors Orpington.
After being inserted the home side posted 156/8 off 40 overs with the main contributors being Mal Umfreville (35), Lee Henry 18, and Cain Bundock (17).
The Thurrock bowlers then proceeded to blow away the visitors batting line up for just 66 with Rob Bundock taking 3-1, Billy Kirk 2-11 with the rest of the wickets shared around between Katherine Hodge, Oggles, Benson and C Bundock to ensure a comfortable 90 run victory.
