Leigh Cricket Club all-rounder Jonathon Wells took 9-35 at the weekend to become the LCA Bowler of the week.
The Aussie claimed the wickets in the clubs comprehensive 10-wicket victory over Colwyn Bay.CC in the Liverpool & District Premier League.
7 of Wells’ wickets came as bowled as he helped Leigh dismiss Colywyn Bay for just 67 batting first.
The visitors were at one point 38 for 9 before a brave stand for the last wicket ensured Colywn Bay passed the 50 mark.
Wells then opened with Steven Mullaney to comfortably reach the total in inside 12 overs.
Mullaney finished unbeaten on 41, whilst Wells finished with 26 as Leigh strolled to the victory.
The result helped Leigh leapfrog Ormskirk.CC into third place in the league, whilst the defeat leaves Colywn Bay bottom of the division and with a huge relegation fight on their hands with two matches remaining.
Wells, who has been tipped for a bright future in the game, has been in excellent form for Leigh this season with both the bat and ball.
The 24-year old has hit over 800 runs in the league this season at average of 54, alongside taking 30 wickets at an average of 13.
Leigh continue their league campaign with a tough away trip to 2nd place Northern.CC this Saturday (1st September).
