Winchmore Hill.CC - 2012 Middlesex Premier League Champions

Winchmore Hill Cricket Club lost just two league matches all season to take the ECB Middlesex Premier League title.

It is an impressive feat by Winchmore to take the crown with the club only returning back into the top division in the county last year after being relegated from the top flight in 2009.

Scott Newman and David Alleyne were both key for Winchmore with the bat throughout the season hitting 680 and 795 runs respectively.

Wicketkeeper Alleyne, who has appeared on the county scene for Middlesex and Nottinghamshire previously, also contributed with 24 catches behind the stumps.

Allenye though, was tipped to the top of the runs-scoring table for the league by Hampstead.CC’s experienced Australian batsman Mark Divin.

Divin scored an impressive 913 runs for the club at an average of just over 60.

Winchmore’s Left-arm seamer Jamie Thorpe was the clear outstanding performer with the ball taking an impressive 56 wickets in the league, including 6-33 against Stanmore.CC towards the end of the season.

Thorpe’s exploits left him top of the bowlers wicket-taking table for the league, finishing just in-front of Ealing.CC spinner Chris Peploe who finished on 50 wickets.

It’s commiserations though for Southgate.CC and Brondesbury.CC who drop out of the top flight after finishing in the bottom two.

Southgate in particular struggled in the premier league this season failing to win a league game all season to finish on five points.

It’s Twickenham.CC and Richmond.CC who will replace the pair in the top flight after the club’s finished in the top two of Division Two.

Twickenham move up divisions as champions after just losing one league match all season.
