Cricket Club Committee and Administration
There are a number of roles that need fulfilling at a cricket club to help it run smoothly and successfully. Most clubs are run by committees of volunteers, these are made up by the current players or supporters and who have a vested interest in the future of the club. Each year there will be an AGM to determine the members of the committee and discuss various other matters relating to the running of the club.
Nick Kay from York CC talks about how they have streamlined their committee with great success:
“Our Committee consists of 8 club members. Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Junior Chairman, First Team Captain, Chairman of Fundraising, Club Coach and Child Welfare Officer.
This has changed in the last 12 months. The Committee used to be much larger but with demands on people’s time, meetings were never at capacity which made decision making difficult. The new structure allows for more regular meetings and eases the decision making process.”
